How to use this calculator
Start with the deterministic fixture values already shown, then replace each input with measurements from your job. Use consistent units and review the highlighted assumptions before using the result in purchasing or production.
Formula and method
Roll price and ribbon price are divided by their respective label yields. Waste reduces both effective yields. Setup/labor is spread across job quantity, then the components are summed.
Worked example
With a $35 roll yielding 2,500 labels, an $18 ribbon yielding 4,300, $25 setup, 3% waste and 10,000 labels, estimated cost is about $0.0212 per label or $212.49 for the job.
How to interpret the result
Use the scenario comparison to test supplier, roll-size or ribbon-yield changes at the same production quantity.
Limitations
The estimate excludes any cost not entered, such as freight, tax, printhead wear, energy, downtime, inventory and finishing. No price data leaves your browser.
